The quote is about the complete job
Instrument type/size, route, access and requested work all affect what must be reviewed. A compact upright with difficult stairs can present a different scope from a grand with straightforward access. An online average is not a committed quote for either.
Access at both ends
A route is more than its distance. Mention outside steps, stair flights, landings, tight turns, narrow doors, elevators and the distance from parking to the instrument. Photos can clarify the situation, but a difficult route still needs an individual assessment before a move is confirmed.
Travel and coordination
Share both cities, seller coordination and building/loading restrictions. Do not assume a general household hourly moving rate includes piano-specific work.
Ask what is included
Clarify bench/components, preparation, final placement, access terms and how changes are handled. Discuss insurance and claim documentation before accepting an arrangement.
No calculator can replace missing details
A meaningful estimate requires real rate rules and information about the move. Say when a model or route is uncertain instead of selecting a convenient category.
